Solid Floor Insulation

making homes healthy

We say no to chemical injection!

We rebuild and restore solid floors in period properties that are suffering from rising damp, using materials sympathetic to the building, both traditional and modern.

What type of property would benefit from Solid Floor Insulation

If you live in a period property i.e. over 100 years old and it has one or more of these issues:

  • your house has rising damp
  • your house is always cold, even when the heating is on

  • If your house has excessive condensation, mould, or both

  • Groundfloor rooms remain cool in the summer

  • Cobwebs on the ceiling and/or in the corners

The above problems are usually caused by the use of incorrect/inappropriate materials having been used on the property. Examples of this are;

  • asphalt covering on solid floors

  • vinyl or modern tiled flooring on solid floors

  • gypsum plaster on internal grounfloor walls; possibly touching the floor

  • waterproof tanking on internal groundfloor walls

  • cement rendering on external walls

  • cement pointing

  • external ground levels above or level to internal floor levels

These issues are particularly common with Victorian and Edwardian houses; regardless of whether it’s a country or city dwelling.

Unfortunately, there usually is not one single cause of rising damp and condensation but a number of factors that lead to damp and hard-to-heat homes.

With targeted action and good management of the building, both inside and outside, we can help you to achieve a healthier home that is warm, dry, and free from mould and condensation, without using chemical injection, which is better for the building.

We offer environmentally friendly solutions, using materials that are sympathetic to the building which allow it to ‘breath’ while offering good insulation values and giving you a healthy and warm home.

Reducing the water content in your walls and floors will improve the thermal efficiancy of your home and reduce the cost of heating your…And of course, you will reduce your carbon footprint, reducing your environmental impact on the planet.

ABOUT US

We only use materials sympathetic to your home ensuring it can 'breath', giving you a healthy environment to live in.

We use a combination of traditional materials such as lime and modern materials like foam glass to ensure your period property retains its character while you enjoy the benfits of modern living.

Our Mission

We believe that everybody can live in a dry and healthy home that doesn’t cost the Earth to heat.

Our Values

We use lime products and other materials that are sympathetic to your property.

This is the structure of your new floor. It will insulate and create a capillary break to ensure moisture is not drawn up to the surface, keeping your period room dry and warm.

Why Love Lime?

Lime is the original material your home will have been built with. This means it works with the building while being a more environmentally friendly material than modern materials, like cement, as it actually absorbs Carbon Dioxide in the drying process.

The foam glass we use (GeoCell, Glapor), although a modern material, works in harmony with traditional buildings, acting both as an insulator and a capilary break, meaing it does not draw up moisture and remains inert under all weather conditions.

Environmentally Friendly

Recycled Glass

“Having removed the asphalt flooring and revealed the original quarry tiles the whole house is so much warmer now. The rising damp in the kitchen has really dried out since the new floor was installed. Thank you guys.”
