about us

making homes healthy

We rebuild and restore solid floors in period properties that are suffering from rising damp, using materials sympathetic to the building, both traditional and modern.

Our Mission

We believe that everybody can live in a dry and healthy home that doesn’t cost the Earth to heat.

Our Values

We use lime products and other materials that are sympathetic to your property.

What type of property would benefit from Solid Floor Insulation

  • If you live in a period property i.e. over 100 years old and you have rising damp
  • If your house is always cold, even when the heating is on
  • If your house has excessive condensation, mould, or both
  • Groundfloor rooms remain cool in the summer
  • Cobwebs on the ceiling and/or in the corners

All of these issues are signs of high water content in the walls and a property not functioning properly.

This may be because of incorrect materials having been used on the property. Examples of this are;

  • asphalt covering on solid floors
  • vinyl or modern tiled flooring on solid floors
  • gypsum plaster on internal grounfloor walls; possibly touching the floor
  • waterproof tanking on internal groundfloor walls
  • cement rendering on external walls
  • cement pointing
  • external ground levels above or level to internal floor levels

These issues are particularly common with Victorian and Edwardian houses; regardless of whether it’s a country or city dwelling.

Unfortunately, there usually is not one single cause of rising damp and condensation but a number of factors that lead to damp and hard-to-heat houses.

With targeted action and good management of the building, both inside and outside, we can help you to achieve a healthier home that is warm, dry, and free from mould and condensation, without using chemical injection.

We offer environmentally friendly solutions, using materials that are sympathetic to the building which allow it to ‘breath’ while offering good insulation values and giving you a healthy and warm home.

Reducing the water content in your walls and floors will improve the thermal efficiancy of your home and reduce the cost of heating your home.

Remember to check the Government’s Green Homes Grant to see if you can get assistance with the cost of solid floor insulation.
